Vintage Levi's

Rather annoyingly I didn't make it to a single vintage fair or car boot this weekend, I really wanted spend some cash as well!! To get my thrifty fix I had a root around my Dad's house to see what I could find and came up trumps with two vintage Levi jackets.

I'm not certain of the history of these jackets but they seem to have always been around the house! The orange and red Levi tabs are post 1971 (due to only the L being in capital) I think they used to be my Dads and are at least 30 years old. They are in great condition with only a little wear around the collar on both jackets.

I love denim jackets and only wish these fit! Unfortunately they are both way to small, the bottom jacket is a size 36 the top one I don't know due to the writing being rubbed off but it looks about the same size.

Oh well I'm sure I can find someone else to fall in love with them and actually wear them rather than have them wasted in my dads wardrobe!!

Nearly bought this yesterday, I was out bid at the last minute which wasn't a bad thing as I have no where to store it nor anyone to sell it to! But I do like it, what do you think?

Holidays back in 1985

My friend from university recently added the below photo to Facebook, my first reaction was "Wow" it looks like a trendy fashion/liquor shoot taken in some sort of Instagram style filter. He just said no its me and my Dad on holiday back in 1985!!

I asked him if I could share his holiday snaps with you guys and he obliged so please enjoy this snap shot of a family holiday in Brunei 1985.

Like father like son

My Dad is the biggest hoarder I know, he refuses to throw anything away just in case it will be useful at some point down the line! So this along with the fact that he used to enjoy buying junk at auctions and is now know at work as the guy that will take anything home means my house is full of hidden gems just waiting to be discovered, dusted down and moved on to a new home. At the top of our stairs there are boxes and boxes of stuff I'm certain my dad has no idea what is in most of them! He is a big fan of clocks so there is loads of clocks around the house and plenty of mirrors. I found this today when I was having a little look around and think it could be pretty nice with a bit of tender loving care, what do you think?

I can't wait to have a good root around to see what gems I can find to share with you guys!

Carboot heaven or not...

Today I went to my first carboot of the summer!! I know scandalous, and I apologise but never the less I decided to go check out Elaines Carboot opposite Botany Bay nr Chorley. I only got there around 11am so it was a late start but the numbers were really down on the last time I went I think there was probably half the stalls there today than normal but with the weather being so awful recently I don't blame people not wanting to risk getting soaked!!

It was quite a nice morning so it was nice to get out and about and have a rummage around the stalls, disappointingly the standard was pretty poor today and the only thing that caught my eye was the below distressed blue cabinet. She wanted £15 for it which was resonable although I'm certain she'd have taken less but on this occasion I decided to pass.

The only other vintage piece I saw was this beauty!! Although I'm not sure where I would keep it!!

It was nice to get the "thrifty" juices flowing again and I'm sure I'll be visiting many more carboots and vintage fairs in the coming months fingers crossed for a few more vintage finds and sunny weather!!
