My first home cut!!

Calum was graduating on Thursday and needed a trim his usual barbers couldn't fit him in so he asked me!!
I was a little apprehensive to be taking on my first ever unsupervised cut after only two lessons add to that my scissors at home are absolutely awful and I can tell you I was a little nervous as I wet his hair in preparation!! But all in all I think it went pretty well, what do you think??
I took about half an inch off the top and shaved the sides with a number 4 (as requested) and blended into the top with the thinning scissors. His fringe was a bit of a challenge as his normal hairdresser cuts it on an angle to allow it to be swept to one side. I cut it as requested but I've recommended he grows his fringe and top about an inch/two have it shorter on the sides and a bit messier on top!!
Calum was happy with the cut and tells me he had 4 positive comments on his hair at work the next day!!! Nothing better than positive feedback to spur me on!!

And so it begins!

My first steps to becoming a barber:
I'm very luck to have started my training with a barber who has years of experience and after opening one of the coolest barbers in the city centre has now moved out of town for a quieter life!!
I'm going to be doing a cut every other week so will hopefully start to get more confident and competent quite quickly!
To start with I'll be learning the basics so short back and sides with a trim on top! While I was nervous and there was lots to learn I really enjoyed it and think my first cut went well, my model was happy and relieved to walk out without getting his ears cut off!!
Can't wait for my next cut!! Keep learning and keep growing!! Exciting times!!!

My second cut

Stuart is the husband of an old college friend of mine, I met him for the first time tonight and cut his hair!!!
Still learning the basics so a nice and tidy short back and sides was the order of the day! Started with the thinning scissors on top and then took about half an inch off the top, I shaved the sides on a number 3 and blended the sides in using the thinning scissors again. To finish the cut I used the trimmer to tidy around the ear and neck line.
Enjoyed it again, I've been given the homework of practicing my scissor over comb technique! #slowcombquickscissors

Beard watch!

Growing a beard is a challenge that not all men have the spirit to face. I for one have taken this challenge.
The picture on the left was taken in early January and the one on the right was a few weeks back so it's been about 2 months.
They say you shouldn't trim your beard for around 4 months so that is my challenge and hopefully by the beginning of May I should have one kick ass beard that I can share with you all!
